Alastair joined HMU in 2001, after spending 6 years with Sunderland Marine Mutual Insurance Co. as a claims adjuster. He has a Bachelor of Engineering in Marine Technology and manages the U.S. claims

Assistant Accountant
May is one of our two plus-25-year employees, having been with HMU since 1981. She takes care of accounting for the HMU Pool, General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

Claims Assistant
Cathee came to HMU in 2001, with extensive experience in claims admin. She handles claims entry and filing.

Underwriting Manager
Cindy is a Chartered Insurance Professional, Marine Specialist, who joined the Company in 2002. Prior to this she had 24 years experience as an underwriter and broker.

Claims Manager
Erin joined the Company in 1990. She is an Associate of the Canadian Insurance Institute, and has worked in the Vancouver market for many years. Erin provides management and direction to our claims department.

Yacht Underwriter
Lori, a Chartered Insurance Professional, Marine Specialist, joined the Company in 1996 as underwriting assistant. Since 2005 she has been our Pleasure Craft Underwriter and is now working on commercial accounts.

Administrative Manager
Joanne is one of our two plus-25-year employees, joining HMU in 1980. She is senior assistant to the underwriters and is responsible for the assessment and direction of policy processing and invoicing.

Richard Race
President
Richard joined the Company in 2001, after 15 years as an underwriter for Sunderland Marine Mutual Insurance Co. As well as managing the company and establishing its strategic direction, as senior underwriter, he is responsible for underwriting guidelines and policies.

Ardith Ralph
Controller
Ardith joined HMU in 2003, with 25 years previous accounting experience. She has a CMA designation and is responsible for all aspects of accounting and finance. She also assists in the over-all management of the company.

Assistant Claims Manager, Canada
Chris handles Canadian claims and assists in the daily operations of the claims department. She joined HMU in 1991, after 16 years of service as Reed Stenhouse’s Marine Claims Supervisor in Vancouver.
